The Vision of NetworkBash
NetworkBash is an event driven concept designed to bring college students and industry professionals under one roof to engage, connect, and build relationships for career opportunities. The foundation of NetworkBash is based on using Social Media technologies as a connection point, building conversations as the catalyst of relationship building. NetworkBash began as an event to bridge the gap after a group of students in a Spring 2009 English Class (Business Writing) asked how to connect with industry professionals when searching for jobs. The original NetworkBash was a student-organized event where five industry panelists discussed how to build relationships to find a career. Social Media was the communication topic and method to promote and execute the event. Both students and the panelists discussed Social Media strategies during the event as a vehicle to build career connections.
The Purpose of NetworkBash
It is the aim of NetworkBash events to bring students and industry together to engage, connect, and build career relationships. The event is planned and executed by students as a part of a university curriculum. University/College Instructors build and implement curriculum within relevant department classes to plan, market, and execute NetworkBash events. This brings ownership to the students and provides a natural word-of-mouth process to promote the semester event to their peers. This also allows educators to build innovative, career-targeted curriculum engaging “real world” application with industry professionals. This natural, social connection provides a pipeline of talent to industry recruiters who are consistently searching for ways to finding new talent for tomorrow’s careers.
